Lady Dog Theatre Company:

After moving to Chicago in 2022 I enrolled in improv classes at The Second City with a friend from college. All I was really hoping to get out of the class was a slightly smaller fear of improv. Instead, the Lady Dog Theatre Company was born (also, I guess, I am slightly less afraid of improv). After taking two sessions together and creating a friendship Elise Piliponis, Mady McCabe, and Rachel Wade, and I decided we needed to make theater together. Back in 2018 Elise and I had seen Lily Bevan perform her play Zoo in a small pub theater. It seemed like the perfect choice, two woman cast, low production costs, and LOTS of room to play. So in the summer of 2023 the four of us divided up all production roles. Elise and I were the actors, lighting designers, and I produced. Mady directed, designed and created marketing materials, and became set designer. Rachel became the stage manager and learned how to navigate QLab to create one of the most immersive and detailed sound designs I have ever experienced. Lady Dog’s premier production was not only a success but one of the most fulfilling projects I have ever been a part of. Currently we are in the process of writing an original work with the hope of producing it in the Fall of 2024.
